Thank You Coretta!

Mrs. Coretta Scott King
April 27, 1927 - January 31, 2006.

Mrs. King passed away from terminal ovarian cancer. I know far too many sistahs that have died from ovarian cancer including two in my own family. Any literature you find on it will tell you that Black women have a lower risk. DO NOT believe that sistahs! Demand the blood test for it during your yearly pap smear. Once you have symptoms it's almost always terminal. One more thing, why don't Sistah's admit it when they have Ovarian cancer? Is it shameful?

They don't make women like Coretta anymore, especially BLACK women like her. She was in a class all by herself. I'm really getting dismayed with my people. I read Dick Gregory's autobiography this weekend called "Nigger". It was astonishing. Back then people like Dick and Coretta had fire in their belly and purpose. We don't have people in our midst like them anymore. We think because we have a degree hanging on wall and a Cadillac in the driveway we've made it NOT! Racism is alive and well, but no one cares. All we care about what celebrity is screwing who, who 50 is beefing with, the latest Jordans, getting our drink on, aquiring more debt. I'm talking about myself too so don't get it twisted. I make myself sick sometimes and ya'll make me sick too!

I'm out!

Detroit STAND UP! It's Party Time

I really haven't been in the party mood lately. Between having major surgery and coming down with the head cold from hell I've been physically a mess. Last night while driving my son home from driver's training they were advertising Super Bowl parties on the radio and my son asked me which one was I going to. I told him that I wasn't really planning on going to any and he told me I was "crazy" for not going out. Instead of smacking the taste out of his mouth I decided the boy had a point. I'm going to get my party on. Let's take a look at the choice shall we.

Diddy Is Running This City!

He is not just throwing one party. He's throwing THREE! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For just a mere $28,000 you can preserve your sexy all three nights in VIP.

I really can't think of what you can give me to make me pay that kind of money to kick it with you. Diddy done lost his damn mind, but I bet the place and VIP will be packed all three nights. Some of the performers are Young Jeezy and Bun B. The club used to be one of my favorite after work spots. It's kinda tight in there so I don't quite know how they are going to pull it off.

I have a co-worker who happens to be white who purchased the $100 general admission tickets. We have dubbed him "Chuck Fiddy". I'm going to pass on Diddy, although I would like to win a mink or two!

It's The Magic Man!

Magic Johnson returns home to Michigan to host his own bash. I don't have a copy, but here's the info:

Lincoln Presents: A Legendary Night: Magic Johnson is throwing this party along with Robert Porcher and Darryl B. Hazel. 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, 315 E. Warren Ave., Detroit. $200 (includes a catered dinner from Sweet Georgia Brown and Seldom Blues and membership to the museum).

This party is definitely worth the money. First of all it benefits charity. Dinner at each one of these restaruants can easily run you $100 and you get a museum membership. It's on the 1st which is work night, won't work for me. Moving on....

Stop the presses! Magic is having more than one party. Here is the info on the other one:

Magic Johnson VIP party: The Coming Home Event: 8 p.m. Feb. 3 at Posh Nightclub, 22061 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. $125-$225 available through Ticketmaster. Call (248) 541-7674 or (248) 645-6666.

Hang With Your Boy TO!
(Not!!!!)

Let me state for the record I love me some TO! But when it come to this party he's of his damn mind. Let's check out the particulars:

Terrell Owens Super Bowl Party: The former Philadelphia Eagles receiver willbe partying in Detroit. 8 p.m. Feb. 4 at Envy, 234 E. Larned St. Tickets:$50 tent; $100 tent and the first floor; $200 for VIP access, which gets you into the tent and on the first and second floors; $500 will get you into every section of the club.

First of all it's COLD as hell here and aint no damn way I'm paying $5 to stand in a damn tent, let alone $50. The first floor of this club is smaller than my two car garage, so that's not happening either. For $500, TO would have to give me a "happy ending" (yeah, I'm still stuck on it). Once again moving on.......

We're having CHURCH(yeah right)! Bishop Don Juan is in town.

Here's the lowdown on his party:

The Real Playaz Ball: Hosted by the infamous "Bishop Don Juan" of Chicago. Prizes will be awarded to the "Playa of the Year" and "Freak of the Year." 8 p.m. Feb. 5 at Posh Nightclub, 22061 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. $125-$225 available through Ticketmaster.

You won't find me at this party either. Good luck finding a Freak of the Year here in Detroit. It's too many to choose from with all these hoodrats.

You know where the Bishop so is....

Snoop Doggy Dog!

I'll just give you the cliff notes on Snoop's festivities. One is a outdoor concert that you have to win tickets too from the radio station. Hell Nawl I'm not standing outside and I'll be damn if I try to call a freaking radio station for tickets. The last time I did that I was trying to get tickets to see Michael Jackson. I dialed for a week street, barely slept or ate. I was scared to go pee! Do you think I won some tickets? HELL NO! But I'm not bitter. Back to the topic.

Snoop is also having a Little League All Star football game. Passing on that as well.

I'm getting sleepy so let's wrap this up........

Breaking News!
Eminem AKA Slim Shady has opened his party up to the public.
Happy news for local fans of Eminem’s Shady Records: The label has opted to sell public tickets for its State Theatre concert, a Feb. 4 event expected to be among the city’s hottest Super Bowl weekend shindigs.Tickets are $30-$100 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com or 248-645-6666).The hip-hop soiree, slyly dubbed the “Shady Bowl Super Party” to sidestep NFL trademark enforcers, is scheduled to feature live sets by Shady artists Obie Trice, Stat Quo and Bobby Clearwater, with New York veteran Biz Markie on DJ duty for the night.Organizers have not confirmed an Eminem performance, though the Detroit rapper is expected to be at the State for at least part of the evening.

I won't be at this party either. This is my daughter's hang out spot.

Some quick mentions without my lovely commentary, because I'm really sleepy now.

Jenna Does Detroit

This is for all you snow bunny lovers.

Vivid Club Jenna Bowl: Party hosted by porn star and best-selling author Jenna Jameson with appearances by other adult film stars. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Feb. 3 at Zoo Bar, 415 E. Congress St., Detroit. $500-$1,000. Call (888) 491-7673 or visit vividclubjennabowl.com.

Hugh Hefner Is Coming to the Ghetto instead of the Grotto!

I know I said no more commentary, but where his party is being held he better come strap and he better strap his bunnies. He's going to the hood fo sho. I too scurred to go to this party! He's also charging two arms and a titty to get in. Here's the infor for the ballar in you:
Nobody knows how to party quite like Hef and the folks over at Playboy. Every year, Playboy throws a huge party at the site of the Super Bowl and this year is no exception. Join Hef and the girls on Super Saturday Night Feb 4th, 2006.As always, Playboy parties attract the who's who of today's hottest celebrities, sports stars and of course Playmates™. We have access to exclusive VIP Passes to the Super Bowl party, so you won't be left out in the cold. You will be mingling with Playmates, celebrities, superstar athletes and Hef! Sounds like a pretty good Saturday night! Where: Coleman A. Young International Airport When: Saturday Feb 4th, 2006 Why: Biggest Party of the Year, with celebs, Playmates and HefTickets: Tickets On Sale Now!

Tune in tomorrow and I'll give you the scoop on where I'm partying and yet even more parties.

Rub Me The Right Way

This weekend I got my first full body massage. It was a very unique and interesting experience. I've had massages before, but never a full body, skin to skin experience except for my husband. It was an out of body experience that made me feel like I committed adultry. Let me start from the beginning.....

My Social Club help our annual retreat this weekend at a local Marriott hotel. As part of the retreat we had a Pamper Party. There were facials, manicures, pedicures, and yes massages. You could choose between a chair or a table massage. Well I decided to go for the gusto and get the table massage. When I walked into the room there was smooth jazz playing and scented candles burning. The lights were turned down blow and there were about five bruthas and a sister waiting to massage and relax your muscles.

Well the brutha that approached me was about 6"5, bald with a smooth Barry White voice. "Would you like a massage?" was the question. I managed to mumble out a yes. "Do you want it clothed or unclothed?" I hate to be rubbed through my clothes by anybody so of course my choice was unclothed, it gives me the heebie jeebies. He gave me a sheet and directed me to wear I could change. I came back wrapped in a sheet and feeling a little uncomfortable that I was the only one getting an unclothed massage at the time. When I first laid out on the table I was stiff as a board! It was like rigamortis had set in on me. Let me say this. I know that massages are supposed to be sexual and in technical terms this one wasn't. The masseuse was very professional, the problem was my crazy azz....LOL.

When he began to lay hands on me and started rubbing the hot oil on me I knew that it was going to be a looong half hour. It's be a long time since another man besides me husband touched me in such a manner. I jumped when he first touched me and he asked me in that Barry White voice if I was ok. I told him I was just a little chilly. I had to start thinking about other things to keep that feeling of euphoria at bay. Stuff like Moe's litter box, laundry, a new hair style, etc. He asked me if I wanted my glutes done, my answer was HELL NAWL! I couldn't handle that. I was already hanging on to my sanity by a thread. When he finally told me masssage was over I was both relieved and sad. My torrid affair was finally over. When he gave me instructions on what to do now that my massage was over I felt like he was speaking to me in slow motion. I was actually SPENT! I left the room in a stumble, folks were looking at me like I was crazy. I felt like I had just had a major orgasm and then I got kicked out of bed and made to get out. It was a crazy feeling.

Once I had came to my senses I saw my girl J walking out of the room and asked her how she like it. She said that she felt like she had been raped, but in a good way. She had that same dazed and confused look on her face so it wasn't just me. I'm not sure if I'll ever get another massage by anyone besides my husband, that's just too much playing. Besides he gives a pretty good massage and I get to have a happy ending wtih it!

Back At The Farm

What's up y'all?

Today was my first day back to work. I felt like someone took an eraser and erased my memory. I really don't remember anything. I had about 8,000 emails waiting on me and I'm not joking! It was good to be back and I feel that some of my co-workers genuinely missed me.

In addition to going back to work today, I took a couple of hours in the middle of the day to go to a funeral. It was a Muslim funeral. I found it to be very interesting and moving.

I'm over my writer's block now, but I don't have time to write anything. I'm busy as heck. The annual retreat for my social club is this weekend and I have to get this website up and running!

Maybe I can write some stuff during my breaks at work since I don't blog at work. I have some good stuff to write about, at least I think so anyway.

My insomnia also has been cured. I'm sleepy. Holla at y'all tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Another MLK day is upon and I'm taking time to reflect on Dr. King's dream.

The Boondocks episode last night was aboutDr. King waking up in the year 2000 after been in a coma instead of dying in 1968. He woke up to see Black Americans and America in total chaos. The episode was RAW and REAL. It's how a great number of us are living and it's how nearly ALL of Americ and the world sees us. Very very sad.

There are some pressing issues that weren't addressed in the TV show like the fact on any given day that 1 in 3 Black men are in prison or on parole or probation. That 1 in 7 Black men can't vote because of disenfranchisement. Black women is the fastest growing segment of the prison population. 25% of Black Americans live in poverty, compared to 9% of whites. 70% of Black babies are born to single mothers. Our health is in shambles, we die of prevventable and treatable diseases Hypertension, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Obesity, AIDS and others. Each one of these issues deserve a post of their own. Everything about Black America is not bad and I will make it a point to address the good in later postings. It's only been about 40 years since we've truly been free in the country and we've made some incredible progress. I am an incredibly proud Black American woman with a deep love of my people and my culture.

I wonder how Dr. King would feel about his own family. None of children married or had children of their own so it is quite possible that the King bloodline will die out. Right now today his family is fighting over control of the King Center. I have to give them credit for NOT taking this fight public and staying tight lipped about it.

Since the big picture of Black America is overwhelming to look at as a whole I tried to bring it closer to home for me. I looked at my own family and it's progress. My grandfather moved his family to Detroit from Crenshaw County, Alabama in the 40s for a chance of at a better life. He landed a job working at Cadillac Motor Company in 1945. He purchased our what became our family home in 1955 in what was a racially intergated neighborhood in Detroit. It was three blocks over from the Ossian Sweet house. I remember being a little child and watching the pride of my grandfather burning the mortgage papers on the front porch once the house was paid off. I'll never forget the pride on my grandfathers face. That house sheltered his children, grandchildren (including me for 17 years), great grandchildren, cousins, distant relatives, friends of family. We all knew that as long as that house existed we had a place to live. Today the house sits board up and in shambles. A shell of its former self. My grandfather passed away in 1980 and my grandmother (who is a subject unto herself) moved out in 1997, she has since been diagnosed with Alzheimers, she will be 96 years old this year. Their grandchildren and great-grandchildren eventually turned our family home into a drug house. It's been raided several times and the last time the police made sure that the house was uninhabital. I know I'm digressing a bit, but it really hurts that my grandfathers descendents destroyed what he works so hard to build. It's the same thing with Black America and Dr. King's dream. We're destroying his dream and leaving it in Shambles.

I really hate extra long post and I will do a part II detailing my family more. I don't want y'all to get to bored reading it all.

7 Days and Counting....

I've been a terrible blogger lately. I've been busy being busy. I'm on the countdown, 7 days before I return to work and I have to take time to get myself physically and mentally ready. I've never taken any time off work besides vacation and the occasional sick day so this has been an adjustment for me. I don't understand how people live without a job or doing something fulfilling with their time. Sitting around watching TV all day sucks big time. Maybe I would feel differently if I wasn't recovering and if I had a ton money so I could spend my days doing things I enjoy like shopping and more shopping. Enough of hearing me whine. Let's take a look at some pictures.

Terrance this picture is not a good look. What's up with the hanging paw and the Twan expression? You know folks are quick to put you on the DL list. You see what happened to your boy 50 when he did the GQ photo shoot.

I doubt if I got ot the movies to see Latifah and LL's new movie this weekend. After Taxi, Queen can't get me in the theater again (man can I hold a grudge). I'll catch it on HBO. I just can't picture them two as lovve interest. Nope, not at all. This is a cool pic of them though.
TI and Bobby Brown looking like Tyrone Biggums.
Taye Diggs has on waaaayyy too much MAC studio fx. He looks like a damn mild dud.
Somebdoy needs to tell her about the wonders of a push up bra. Tichina tits look like to flat azz pancakes. Not a good look in a strapless dress, otherwise she looks great.
Speaking of tits, Star only has one. I've seen this picture before, but it cracks me up everytime I look at it. Overall it's a nice picture of her and Al.
Damn Shemar looks scrumptious in this picture. Who is that with him?
*Claps* Very nice Serena. I see you took my advice and got yourself some Kheri lotion and Olive oil. The airbrushing didn't hurt either.
Omarosa stretching out the last few seconds of her 15 minutes at Mary J.'s birthday bash.
Sallie Richardson-Whitfield and her husband Dondre Whitfield. I always thought she'd have a more successful career. Remember when he was Joan's sex addicted boyfriend on Girlfriends? He's on that show Jake in Progress. I always thought he was a cutie.
Robin Givens is proof that Black don't crack. Hate or lover her, she looks good. I can't think of this dude's name. He's a Super Male Model.
Just whe you thought Serena was trying to be classy, she turns around and gets trashy again. She knew this shirt was see through.
Queen Latifah is a really big girl or Halle is a really little girl. It's rare to see these to Cover Girls togher.
Janice Combs never disappoints the H.A.M. lovers. Ewwww!
Very nice picture from Lil Kim's pre-prison photoshoot. I like the original Lil Kim, but oh well.

I find this picture very offensive for some rason. I don't like getting my picture taken against my will.

Mariah doesn't look bad in this bikin shot. I think she just wears her clothes too little which makes her look bigger.
Forest Whitaker is a little hard on the eyes, but at least his wife is cute.
Remember Dominque Dawes, the olympic gymnast. She's all grown up now. She looks like she could be Nia Long's little sister.
Angela Basset is look awesome in this picture. Go on girl!
Jennifer Hudson is looking pretty homely these days. Maybe because she's standing next to B.
Venus is looking fabulous in this picture with Andy Roddick. I knew you could do it girl.

What ever happened to Kadeem Hardison? He haven't really been able to do anything steady since Dwayne Wayne and Chante dumped him.

My Time On The Sofa Is Winding Down....

Soon I'll be back in the land of cubicles and water coolers wondering what time are we going to Starbucks so I can get myself a Carmel Macchiatto. Where did the time go? I can't believe I've literally sat on my azz for a month!

Healing is hard work people! The life of a coach potatoe is strenuous. We always have to know where the remote is and you have to keep a cold glass of something around. I know I'm a true coach potate because I'm addicted to Munchies and that can't be good. Believe it or not I've lost a few pounds.

Somebody spent a lot of time letting my girl MiMi have it. Mariah better watch it, she's only a twinkie away from going from thick to fat. Humph I got a lot nerves...LOL. I just want to know why does she have to rub all over herself when she sings, it's disturbing.

Ok, Mairah is on vacation. Why the fugg she have on those shoes? Nobody wears heels on vacation unless your going to the club. Where are you flip flops girl?

Ciarra really needs to find her own style. Girl you will NEVA EVA be Ms. Jackson. I can't wait until her 15 minutes are over. Next please!

The even talking abou her azz oversea how she's trying to be Baby Girl, that's Aaliyah to the clueless. Ciara will never get respect. She choose BowWow as a boyfriend after all.

I thought Rodney Jenkins azz was on a diet? I really want him to cut that curl out. I can't take it! We all know that aint your hair. (Damn I'm full of hate today)

Can y'all believe this is Vivica? She has straight jacked up her face! She looks like that plastic surgery nightmare lady that was on Oprah. I'll have to find a picture for y'al. Such a damn shame.

Tupac sister, Set Shakur. Pac was my boy so I'm not going to dog his sister, but y'all can.

Another shot of her.

Kelly, Beyonce, and Jay Z on vacation somewherew warm. Must be nice. Uh B,while you're out there partying, they got your shyt on Overstock.com at half price.

My whatever happened to today is Lisa Nicole Carson. I was watching Eve's Bayou and I was like"what the hell happened t her". I know she went crazy and err'thang, but so did Martin and he's still around. Holla if you know what she's up to.

5 Random Things About Me

  1. This is my second marriage. I got married the first time when I was just 18 years old. The reason I got married is because I became “born again” and I was living with my ex-husband and I was told that if we didn’t get married I would go to hell. There was a scientist at NASA that said he calculated the exact date that the world would end and it scared me to no end. I grew up in hell fire and brimstone churches which is why I believe I have terrible anxiety issues that I have now. Age 18 is entirely too young to get married in this day and age. Everyone at the church encouraged the marriage although my ex-husband never became “born again”. It was probably the single biggest mistake I made in my life. The best thing to come out of the marriage was my son. Word up Dre!

  1. I’m the only one out of all eight of my siblings to get a college degree. My oldest brother received a scholarship to play football, but left school in his junior year. We all have high school diplomas or a GED though. My oldest sister has decided that she wants to be a nurse and she will start taking classes this semester. Not one of my siblings attended my college graduation and only two attended my daughter’s high school graduation.

  1. I’m in an all female social club called BeeDazzled. I was elected the President of the club last month and I will serve as President for the next two years. I consider it an honor and a challenge. It can be difficult dealing with 14 women and their personalities. We do both social and civic activities.

  1. I love to give parties and entertain. I love to have people over to eat and have a good time. I really hate not being able to do that this holiday season. I also don’t know how I’m going to fit it into my financial budget this year since I’m buckling down. I want to finish remodeling my house and I won’t be able to do it if I spend all my free money entertaining.

  1. I used to be the “toy lady”! My husband got laid off and I needed to find a way to bring in some extra income pronto!!!! I started selling Mary Kay, but it just wasn’t bringing in the bucks so I had to do something else. Well I met a girl who was doing the toys and was making big bucks so I decided to try it and I did very well at it. It was just too time consuming and tiring. I still do it from time to time for my social club, but the “toy lady” is retired.

My 2K5 Reviewed

Blogger really pisses me off!  I sat and type a long ass post and just a picture shows up!  I’m going to eventually host my blog on my server here at the house as soon as my husband finishes building it.

(As I was saying, but not as long as what I was saying!)

2K5 was a really great year for me.  I haven’t been able to say that for a long time, if ever.  Here are some of the highlights.

My daughter’s graduation!!!!   It’s definitely in the top 5 events of my life.  It was an incredible moment to see my daughter graduate at the top of her class and receive all those accolades.  She’s worked hard for it every since pre-school.  I screamed and hollered so loud at the graduation every time they would call her name folks would look to see what I was going to do and they called her name a lot!  Just think I get to do this all over again when my son graduates in ’07.  It seems like yesterday they were running around the house arguing and fighting, oh that was yesterday!!!!

Seeing my daughter off to college.  Again it was one of the proudest days of my life taking my daughter to one of the best Universities in the country, with a full tuition scholarship I might add.  An awesome awesome feeling.

Watching my son run track.  I think my son has found his true calling as an athlete.  Watch for him in the Olympics y’all!  Also bringing his academics up to the levels I knew he could perform.

My wonderful husband built my super large deck, remodeled a bathroom, and painted the inside of the house.  A good man is hard to find and I have one folks.  That man will do anything to make me happy but clean the house!  I can live with that.

I didn’t as much traveling as I normally do, but I did go to Vegas twice and Florida once.  I have been travel plans for 2K6.  Let’s pray my daughter doesn’t need all my money this year.

I got a new position at work in the 2K5.  Thank the LORD for new challenges.

I came through my surgery with flying colors!  It‘s over and I’m healing.

I’ve had some disappointments, but the good outweighed the bad, so I’m not going to talk about them except the fact that I’m fatter than I’ve ever been in my life and I didn’t diet or exercise all last year, but oh well.  I learned a lot about myself too in 2K5.  I know the type of person I want to be and the type I don’t want to be, expect some changes folks.

I just so feel so blessed right now I don’t know what to say.  I didn’t lose anyone close to me, my household is in tact, and I just feel great!
